JOSE GARCIA DAVIS - Writer, Director, Performer, Editor, Visual Artist, Teacher  Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico I have resided in Los Angeles, California since 1994 with my lovely and talented wife, choreographer/dancer/actress Licia Perea, with whom I frequently collaborate. A film, video, theatre and visual artist, I am a partner in The Hollywood Casting Couch (a pun on Hollywood and casting a fly fishing rod), a production company that produces fly fishing and tying DVD’s (www.thehollywoodcastingcouch.com), I am on the Board of Directors of The Latina Dance Project (www.latinadanceproject.com) and directed and created video for our touring show Coyolxauhqui ReMembers. I am also the new Vice President of the Board of Directors for Teatro Nuevo Mexico (www.teatronm.com). I have been Director of Theater for Environmental Awareness with U.S.-China Environmental Fund, Artistic Director of two New Mexico based theatre companies, Teatro Consejo, and Oso Amarillo Productions, and Associate Director of Latino Chicago Theatre Company and La Compañia de Teatro de Alburquerque. In addition. I have been an Acting Coach Mentor for Scholastic, Inc., Artist-in-residence for L.A. Theatre Works, Homeland Cultural Center, Long Beach, CA and the New Mexico Arts Division, Artistic Director of Evidence Room’s RampArt Youth Theatre Project, Los Angeles, and more. I have performed and directed nationally and internationally on the stage as well as worked on dozens of feature films, commercials and music videos as a performer, art director, prop master, set dresser, mask maker, and sculptor. My visual art has been in quite a number of galleries and juried and invitational art shows. Thus far in 2008 I have played the lead role in Teatro Nuevo Mexico’s very successful production of the zarzuela La Corte de Faraon, with the New Mexico Symphony orchestra and the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC). I performed the premiere of The Devil and Forty Chickens, a new one-person show that I wrote and directed, at the Vancouver International Storytelling Festival where the show was a rousing success! In 2007 I directed the premiere (and played the principal singing role) of my musical play, The Magdalena Cantata (music by Rush Tully) as a joint production of Teatro Nuevo Mexico and the NHCC.
